If you’ve got a library card, you can often access a huge range of extras from their online service. Many have great ebooks, newspapers and movies that are free to download:

TED Talks are all about sharing ideas and innovations, in ways that are accessible and interesting. There are more than 3300 free talks on the TED talks website, on every topic imaginable. The hardest part is choosing where to start.

Take a trip around the world with the BBC’s fascinating podcast series, A History of the World in 100 Objects.
From fashion to philosophy, sport to neuroscience, and everything in between, check out the range of free podcasts available on the Guardian website.
Live stream a concert, listen to a favourite show or dip into the archive from Radio New Zealand. Search rnz.co.nz, and select ‘Listen Live’ from the top right corner. Or browse the range of podcasts under the’ podcasts & series’ tab at the top of the screen.
