Summerset’s home exercise programme
An extension of our popular in-village exercise programme, CB Fit Online has been developed by Summerset’s resident fitness expert, Daniel Hardie to give you a taste of our signature exercise class from the comfort of your own home!
A mix of strength, balance and coordination exercises, CB Fit Online is a series of short videos and is suitable for a range of fitness levels.
Daniel has over 15 years of experience in the fitness and wellbeing industry and is passionate about the relationship between physical and cognitive health.
Our CB Fit signature programme is an accredited falls prevention class under the ACC, Ministry for Health and Te Tāhū Hauora “Live Stronger for Longer” initiative.*
Seated to standing strength
In this workout, you'll strengthen the muscles that make transitioning from seated to standing easier. It also focuses on improving balance, helping you feel more stable on your feet. Have a chair nearby to assist with these exercises and build confidence in your movements.
Lower body
Get moving with this dynamic lower body workout that combines walking and lateral movements to build strength and flexibility. You’ll be doing squats, bending and side-to-side motions. No equipment is necessary, just some space to move freely and enhance your mobility.
5-minute full body strength
Boost your strength in just 5 minutes with this full body workout! We’ll cover five different exercises, with marching intervals to keep your heart rate elevated. Grab small weights or cans of food and clear some space to move side to side. Perfect for a quick, effective workout.
Lower body and spine
This session targets balance, spinal mobility, and lateral movement to enhance your overall stability and flexibility. With just enough space to move side to side, you’ll work on strengthening your spine and improving your coordination — no equipment needed!
Standing balance
This lower body strength workout is designed to enhance your balance and stability, making everyday activities like walking, climbing stairs, and moving side to side easier and more efficient. You’ll improve leg strength and coordination helping you feel more steady on your feet and confident in daily movements — no equipment is required.
Arms and balance
This 5-minute full body workout helps strengthen your arms while improving your balance, so you can feel steadier on your feet and make everyday tasks like carrying groceries or reaching for items on high shelves easier and more comfortable. All you need is some space and small weights or cans of food.
Beginner balance
This workout is designed to help improve your standing strength and balance. You’ll need some space to reach forwards and backwards, along with a chair for support as you build stability and confidence in your movements.
